A Parental Consent Form For An Excursion
can be downloaded from this site.
To download [click here]
(Acrobat Reader Required)

Could parents please fill in one form per child for any excursion and hand it back via the class teacher in the primary or in the case of the secondary whoever has arranged the trip. These forms cannot be emailed back to the school as we require a parent or carer signature. |
Each
activity is open to all pupils and newcomers are
welcome. If you would like to volunteer
your time to assist clubs that are up and running
then please get in touch, your support would be
greatly appreciated! We are also able to assist any
volunteers who would like to led an activity not
already on offer, so if you have the knowledge, time
and, most importantly, enthusiasm to introduce
something new then we would love to hear from you.

[Feb 10]
[The Highlanders lost
their quarter final Scottish Cup plate competition tie
away at Firrhill. Despite taking an early lead the
Highlanders couldn't match the locals for their speed in
the centres and great support play. The team worked hard
throughout the game and it finished 52-21. Well done to
all the boys who were involved whose behaviour and
attitude throughout the day was a credit to themselves
and their school. Thanks also to the two S1 water boys
who helped out. Next games TBA. (DW Coach and Roving

Boys Football
Girls Football
An event
sponsored by Bank of Scotland took place
on 25th Feb at the
All Weather pitches at Breadalbane. The
tournament was attended by
Pitlochry and Blairgowrie and ourselves.
The girls team was made up
of...
Jenny Taylor
Samantha Deeks
Sarah Blackwood (captain)
Chloe Bennett
Kirsty Fisher
Rosie Harrison Flowers
Jordan Rees
Megan Lancaster
Mhairi Cook
After some great battles, two draws and
one defeat the team came
second, but only on goal difference. A
great performance with goals
from Samantha Deeks and top scorer Sarah
Blackwood.
Not only was it a great evening of
competitive sport but the behaviour
towards the other teams was very sporting
and respectful.

Badminton
P&K Secondary Schools
Badminton Competition.Well done to all
competitors, an excellent standard of
badminton was on show throughout the day with
many Breadalbane pupils reaching the quarter
and semi final stages of the tournament.Congratulations to Emma Cox
& Callum Dickson who were runners up in the U14
mixed doubles. Iain Murch & Murray Brown also
reached the final of the U19 boys doubles but
after a close match also finished as r/up.
County Sports
Well done to all
athletes. Effort, attitude and behaviour were all excellent.
The Junior team won their competition and the Intermediates
and Seniors were second.
Individual Performances:
Rowena Reed (Discus), Gareth Palmer (Discuss), Ross Herbert
(Shot Putt), Eilidh Kennedy (800m and Long Jump), Derek Cobb
(400m), Sorcha Murray (High Jump), Stewart Allan (800m), Tom
Smith (1500m).
Cross Country
On Friday 22nd February, a
number of Breadalbane Academy pupils battled
against the elements to take part in the annual
Perth and Kinross Schools X-Country Championship.
Although the mud and rain made the ground almost
impossible to run on there were a number of
excellent performances from Breadalbane Academy
pupils.
Most notably it was the S2
girls who failed to let the mud and rain get the
better of them as they claimed first team prize.
Eilidh Kennedy led the way by picking up an
individual medal in 2nd place and was helped by
her team mates, Lauri Benning, Megan Lancaster,
Grace Smith, Emma Cox and Kirsty Fisher to ensure
the team finished 1st.
But it wasn’t just the girls
who managed to cope with the poor conditions. In
the S3 Boys race, Ben MacKinnon had a strong race
to take the bronze medal. Whilst in the senior
race, Tom Smith had a close race, just missing out
on the gold and finishing in a respectable 2nd
place.
Overall it was a great effort
from all those taking part from Breadalbane
Academy, with a great standard of running being
shown from all, especially in such terrible
weather conditions.

Netball
This year we have two teams playing in the Perth and Kinross League. The girls have been training hard and playing well. Training takes place on Wednesday’s after school. New players are always welcome.
Just in time for the end of the netball season Breadalbane
Academy have received their new netball strips!
A mixture of sponsorship and fundraising has allowed the
school to invest in two sets of tops, skirts and hoodies to
start next season off in style. The girls raised funds by
organising cake and candy stalls and staff coffee mornings and
their efforts were complimented by support from local
businesses. Highland Safari, Aberfeldy sponsored strips for
the S2 team, while a grant from Scottish & Southern covered
the S1 kit.

Duke of
Edinburgh
The school’s Duke of Edinburgh’s Award group is now in full swing as regards the expedition season. Three weeks ago 22 boys and girls from the Bronze group (S3) undertook their first training expedition at the west end of Loch Rannoch. Last weekend a group of 10 had their first full length practice expedition from Amulree through Glen Almond to Ardtalnaig, with the remaining 12 following in their steps at the end of May. The Bronze groups will then have a rest while the Silver groups, around 22 pupils again, undergo their practice expedition in the Rannoch/Corrour area. Then its back to the Bronze group and the Qualifying Expeditions in the Black Wood of Rannoch. The summer term finishes off with the silver Qualifying on the Island of Coll, near the end of term. News of the Gold group will be available after the summer holidays.
