MUSIC
AND THE LOCAL COMMUNITY DECEMBER 2007
On
behalf of the Music Dept thank you to all staff
who allowed pupils to recently attend and
entertain the OVER 60's Group in Aberfeldy Town
Hall.
Hannah and Kirsty F, Eildh
Hadden, Megan L, Fraser Y, Samantha D (primary)
did an excellent job and the audience thought they
were magnificent. Not only did they play well, but
joined the audience for tea and cakes, the people
commented on how sociable and polite the
youngsters were.
As a result we have been asked
to go to another venue in Dec to entertain at a

PARENTS' CONCERT SEPTEMBER 2006
This annual event (featuring both beginners and advanced performers) took place on September 26th and was enjoyed by an appreciative audience consisting of families and friends of pupils receiving instrumental/vocal lessons. Many parents welcome this opportunity to meet instrumental staff in order to discuss their son/daughter's progress.
Many thanks, and well done, to all pupils who took part: Callum Downie, Fraser Yorston,
Jack Stewart, Daniel Dixon, Liam Cassidy, Callum Strong, Ciara Menzies, Harriet MacDonald,
Claire Nicol, Shona Reed, Corrie Dougall, Sorcha Murray, Iona Brown, Rowena Reed,
Rowan Cannon, Kayleigh McGrath, Kieran Binnie, Criostai Pringle, Andrew Tiffin,
Jamie Pringle, Shonagh Stark and Zoe Pattinson.
The audience was also informed of a number of exciting new developments within the Music Department, including tuition in voice, guitar and oboe, provided by Mr J.Belloti, Mr O.Nicholson and
Mrs L.Young respectively. Uptake in these areas has been very encouraging.
Mr Bellotti spoke briefly about the newly formed Perth and Kinross Schools Choir. Several Breadalbane pupils have auditioned for this group, which will begin rehearsals on Thursday evenings in October.
Details of transport from outlying areas will be provided after the October school holiday.
Also on the vocal front, a number of pupils will be travelling to Glasgow on the first Saturday of the holiday in order to take part in a day of Gospel Singing workshops organised by YoungChoirs.Net and led by members of the internationally renowned London Community Gospel Choir.
Comments from S4 Pupils.
“The Gospel singing day in Glasgow was an experience not to be missed. The only down side was leaving Aberfeldy at 8:00am which is too early! We met lots of new and different people from other schools. We had never tried gospel singing before and though it was quite hard at first, it was a lot of fun.
Members of the London Community Gospel Choir led the singing day, (as featured on the soundtrack to the Lionking!). They were really friendly and full of fun. They taught us how to sing in a different way to how we normally sing. This helps us when we sing now. They were helpful and supportive when we were struggling with the new techniques. They made it really fun to do and we would like to see more gospel singing in the school if possible.”
