Extra-Curricular Activities

Extra-Curricular Sport – Active Schools at Breadalbane Academy

  • Active Schools is a national programme, funded by SportScotland, that aims to help children and young people become physically active for life. At Breadalbane Academy, the school works in partnership with the Active Schools Coordinator to offer a wide range of free extracurricular sporting opportunities for all pupils – from Primary through to Secondary – during lunchtimes and after school.
  • These activities are made possible thanks to our incredible volunteers – pupils, staff and community partners – who work together to make sport and physical activity accessible, inclusive and fun. Taking part not only supports health and wellbeing but also helps pupils develop confidence, teamwork and leadership skills.
  • There is a fantastic variety of sports and activities available, and every pupil is welcome to join in regardless of experience or ability.

Pupil Leadership Opportunities

Our pupil leaders play an active role in school life by:
  • Delivering lunchtime clubs for their peers and younger pupils
  • Contributing to the Sports Committee
  • Assisting with the planning and delivery of inter-house sports festivals
  • Promoting opportunities to encourage attendance at clubs
In addition, through the Active Schools Perth & Kinross LEAD Sport programme, pupils can:
  • Gain nationally recognised qualifications
  • Develop practical coaching skills
  • Build confidence as leaders in sport
These pathways empower young people to grow, lead and succeed – both on and off the field.

Stay Up to Date

Our extracurricular timetables for Primary and Secondary (lunchtime and after school) are updated regularly. Please check:

Volunteers Make It Possible

Our amazing volunteers – staff, pupils, club coaches and community members – make these opportunities happen. Without them, the programme simply couldn’t run. We’re always looking for more helpers! If you’d like to make a difference, even for just 30–45 minutes a week for 4-6 weeks, please see our Volunteer Flyer or get in touch. We’re always looking for more amazing clubs to add to our menu of opportunities!

If you have any questions about the extracurricular programme, would like your child to get involved, are interested in volunteering, or have any other queries, please contact:
