    Expressive Art - Drawing and mixed media

    Activity

    Fortingall Art Competition – Develop Understanding of media and techniques through the planning and creation of a piece of Artwork in response to the Artist Pablo Picasso.

  • Curriculum Area:

    3D Design - Jewellery

    Curriculum for Excellence ‘Benchmark’

    • Researches, develops and communicates a solution to a design brief by working through a process.
    • Evaluates what works well and what could be improved or different in their own and others’ work, using appropriate art and design vocabulary.

    Activity

    Respond to a design brief through research, development of ideas and creation of a selected idea to create a 3D jewellery outcome inspired by the work of designer Peter Chang.

    Expressive Art - RSA Competition – Personalisation and Choice

    Curriculum for Excellence ‘Benchmark’

    • shows increasing accuracy in representing what is seen;
    • shows understanding of how visual elements and visual concepts can be combined, for example, to create mood and atmosphere;
    • Selects independently and applies media and techniques, giving reasons for their choices.

    Activity

    To create an independent piece of Art work to be entered into the annual RSA competition. The Award has no theme; however, the emphasis is on skills of technique, observation and interpretation.

    Surface Decoration and Design Pattern Generation and Textile Design

    • shows understanding of how visual elements and visual concepts can be combined, for example, to create mood and atmosphere;
    • Selects independently and applies media and techniques, giving reasons for their choices.

    Activity

    In this unit pupils will be taking inspiration from the work of Glasgow based designers; The Timorous Beasties and expanding their  ideas to create a variety of drawings and mixed media outcomes that reflect their chosen insect related imagery.  Pupils will have the opportunity to work with a variety of drawing materials as well as using ICT to develop their work and help with the generation of designing patterns inspired by the Timorous Beasties.
