  • Curriculum Area:

    Term 1 - My Place In The World

    Curriculum for Excellence ‘Benchmark’

    • Particular focus on the following benchmarks:

      • Investigates and analyses at least one issue of belief, drawing upon sources to explain responses from Christianity, at least one World Religion, and at least one belief group independent of religion.
      • Analyses the relationship between own beliefs and actions.

    Activity

    • Use of religious sources to explain beliefs and one philosophical idea
    • Moral dilemma grid

     

  • Curriculum Area:

    Term 2 - Signs & Symbols

    Curriculum for Excellence ‘Benchmark’

    Particular focus on the following benchmarks:

    • Investigates, explains and analyses the importance of at least two from a tradition, a practice, a ceremony, a custom, a way of marking a major life event in Christianity, at least one World Religion, and at least one belief group independent of religion.

    Activity

    • Art & story telling – using Christian art, analyse beliefs (two paintings)
    • Using CS Lewis’ “Supposal” idea, create a ‘symbol’ for Narnia
    • Draw six major religious symbols with explanations

  • Curriculum Area:

    Term 3 - Myths & Legends The Natural World

    Curriculum for Excellence ‘Benchmark’

    Particular focus on the following benchmarks:

    • Investigates and analyses at least one issue of belief, drawing upon sources to explain responses from Christianity, at least one World Religion, and at least one belief group independent of religion.
    • Analyses the relationship between own beliefs and actions

    Activity

    • Create a storyboard for a Scottish myth/legend
    • Discuss purpose of myths
    • Discuss religious myths and their purpose
    • Analyse personal beliefs through questioning
