Breadalbane Academy offers pupils the opportunity to study a wide range of languages. The Modern Languages department offers French, German, Spanish and Gaelic (Learners) . All pupils study French and Gaelic in S1 with Spanish and German available as taster courses in S2. From S3-S6, pupils can choose to study any of the four languages with many continuing their studies to Advanced Higher level. Homework is given to support classroom learning and pupils are encouraged to attend Study Support which runs all year for all languages. Active Learning is a feature of Modern Languages lessons and IT is used on a regular basis both in class and at home. Language learning builds communication skills and is also a good means of increasing pupil confidence. Courses lend themselves to promoting Skill for Life, Work and Learning as well as preparing the pupils of today to be the global citizens of tomorrow.
